Snowboard certification for NRM instructors. Three progressive certification levels with prep clinics strongly encouraged before assessment.

Certification Levels

Prerequisites

Current member of AASI NRM (members of other regions must have their home region's permission)
Complete the Snowboard Level I E-Learning Course at least 48 hours prior to the on-snow event
Read and be familiar with the AASI Snowboard Technical Manual
Level 1 Prep Course (2-day preparation clinic) REQUIRED if you are not currently teaching at a PSIA-AASI Member School or have not completed a new-hire training clinic at a member school

Movement Analysis / Technical Understanding
Teaching and People Skills

All three modules over 2 days.
Candidates are assessed through assessment activities, interviews, and scenarios in beginner and easier intermediate terrain and extra-small to small freestyle features.

AASI Snowboard Level I E-Learning Course (required 48 hours before the event)

Entry-level snowboard certification with coaching during the two-day assessment.

Prerequisites

Snowboard Level I certification (current member of AASI NRM, or home-region permission)
Pass the online Level II Professional Knowledge Exam with a minimum score of 83% per section at least 48 hours before the prep clinic
Attend and participate in all three days of the Level II Preparation Clinic, taken in NRM (valid the season taken plus the following season)

Riding Performance

Offered as a 3-day block of modules (MA/Tech, Teaching, Riding, in that order) that can be taken all at once or individually.
Any module can be retaken individually if not passed. Pass all three to certify.
If you fail the assessment, the prep clinic and written test do not need to be retaken while still valid.

Professional Knowledge Exam

Online Professional Knowledge Exam required (score ≥83% per section) at least 48 hours before the prep clinic. Valid the season taken plus the following season.

Intermediate certification. Three-day assessment format with two assessors.

Prerequisites

Snowboard Level II certification (current member of AASI NRM, or home-region permission)
Pass the online Level III Professional Knowledge Exam with a minimum score of 83% per section at least 48 hours before the prep clinic
Attend and participate in a three-day Level III Preparation Clinic, taken in NRM during the same season as the assessment or the season before (valid the season taken plus the following season)
