Scholarships

The PSIA-AASI NRM Educational Foundation (NRM EF) was established in 1991 to serve the membership of NRM by providing financial assistance to those who seek to further their professional and personal goals to become more accomplished and effective snowsports instructors by attending education events and attaining advanced levels of certification.

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization in good standing. NRM EF is governed by the Education Foundation Committee under the supervision of the PSIA-AASI NRM Board of Directors.

Every year, NRM EF awards scholarships and grants to members and schools wishing to further their knowledge in alpine, adaptive, children’s, snowboard, freestyle, cross country and telemark education. Awards are made to NRM members and schools in good standing who show a willingness to partner with PSIA-AASI NRM to “create lifelong adventures in education” for our members and guests, and to assist our members in developing professionally and personally while creating positive, fun, learning experiences.

Scholarships and grants are funded through the generous donations of individuals and members of PSIA-AASI. One of our fundraising events is the Fall Festival Silent Auction. To make a donation to the EF scholarship/grant fund, or to donate goods or services to the silent auction, please use the contact form or email the NRM Region office.

Individual Scholarships

Individual Scholarships help NRM members in good standing attend NRM sanctioned education events and pursue advanced levels of certification.

Applying is two separate steps, submitted independently:

  1. You submit the application below.
  2. Your Snowsports School Director submits a recommendation using the Director Recommendation form — in their own time, before or after your application. We match the two by your name.

Both must be received by the deadline for your application to be considered complete.

  • Application materials must be received by November 15 to qualify for first consideration. Deadline: November 15
  • Applications received after November 15 and before February 15 will be considered pending available funding.
  • Prior-season Individual Scholarship recipients are not eligible for the following season.
  • Your Snowsports School Director must submit a recommendation on your behalf (see the Director Recommendation section below).

Scholarship Recipient Responsibilities

If awarded a scholarship, a reimbursement check will be mailed to the address provided on the application upon completion of the following:

  • Participation in the event.
  • Submission of an article/letter/photographs/videos sharing the experience and how it will be applied to your professional and personal goals.

Please submit all requested material to the NRM Region office. The NRM Region office will notify applicants of the EF Committee’s decision.

Submitted your application? Send your director a link to this page so they can add their recommendation: they’ll use the form just below.

Director Recommendation

For Snowsports School Directors. Every Individual Scholarship application must be supported by your recommendation, submitted separately from the member’s application — before or after they apply is fine. Submit one recommendation per applicant you’re supporting; we match it to their application by name.

School Grants

School Grants help NRM member schools deliver education events that develop their staff professionally and personally.

  • Application materials must be received by December 1. Deadline: December 1
  • Applications received after December 1 and before February 15 will be considered pending available funding.
  • Provide a written statement about your school, goals for your program, and how you intend to use the event to help your staff develop professionally and personally. Any additional information you feel is relevant for consideration of the grant request should be submitted.

Grant Recipient Responsibilities

If awarded a grant, the funds will be transferred to a school invoice upon completion of the following items. Any remaining balance will be billed to the school.

  • Upon completion of the event, submission of:
    • an event roster
    • a report from the education staff member who led the event.
  • Submission of a report detailing how the event will:
    • assist your school in reaching its goals
    • aid those attending in achieving their professional and personal goals in snowsports instruction.
  • Submission of photos and videos from the event.

Please submit all requested material to the NRM Region office. The NRM Region office will notify applicants of the EF Committee’s decision.
